White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki held a briefing on the Biden administration’s policy agenda. She began the briefing by addressing decreased unemployment claims, continuing cyberattacks on private companies in the U.S., and the administration’s plans to assist in the global COVID-19 vaccination effort. Other topics covered included ongoing negotiations over the American Jobs Plan, President Biden’s upcoming trip to Europe, the origins of the coronavirus and newly released emails written by Dr. Anthony Fauci.

MS. PSAKI: All right. I have a couple of items for all of you at the top, and some charts. We love charts in here.
In today’s encouraging report, initial claims for unemployment insurance fell to their lowest level and below 400,000 for the first time since the pandemic hit. This is just the latest evidence that President Biden’s economic strategy and vaccination plans are working. While weekly data can be volatile, since taking office, average claims have fallen by about 50 percent, which you can see in this chart, over the course of time, and by more than 100,000 in last — in the last month alone.
And earlier this week, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development — the OECD, as it’s commonly known — one of the leading bodies in analyzing economic growth around the world, increased their projection for U.S. economic growth this year to 6.9 percent due to the strength of the American Rescue Plan and our pandemic response to get Americans vaccinated and lift our economy out of the crises that we inherited.
In fact, the United States is the only major industrialized nation to have its growth projection through 2025 revised upward.
We also learned earlier this week that manufacturing activity in May was near its highest level in more than 15 years... more

Dr. Anthony Fauci’s emails revealed that a prominent researcher informed him in January 2020 that they believed the virus genome had signs of lab manipulation.
Psaki calls Fauci ‘undeniable asset’ after Chinese lab leak emails
Jun. 3 - ...A preliminary World Health Organization study controlled by China this year concluded the virus likely emerged naturally.
The lab-release theory gained traction recently after the Wall Street Journal reported that three employees at the Wuhan Institute of Virology fell so ill that they were hospitalized in November 2019 — just before the first reported COVID-19 cases.
The article cited “a previously undisclosed U.S. intelligence report.”
A subsequent US intelligence community statement released to the public said one US spy agency “leans more toward” the lab leak theory, but that two others lean toward the explanation that the virus emerged naturally in animals.
Fauci’s credibility was called into question this week when his work emails from last year — released to news outlets via the Freedom of Information Act — revealed his communications with the director of the Chinese CDC and with the leader of a nonprofit that contracted with the Wuhan lab.
The emails also revealed that a prominent researcher informed him in January 2020 that they believed the virus genome had signs of lab manipulation.
Peter Daszak, head of the EcoHealth Alliance, which used a $3.4 million US grant to do research at the Wuhan lab, wrote to Fauci in April 2020 that he was thankful that Fauci was publicly knocking the possibility of a lab leak... quoted from
